Downpours help Phnom Penh to get its new name,
Up high, the highest of its fame,
The rain floods change streets to rivers,
Cars, m'bikes, all become swimmers.

O City of Pearl gets what's so famous,
Boasted of being prosperous,
You are in the dubbed "Kingdom of Wonder"
Of face immersed under water.

Surely not like Venice in Italy,
Under water, it's real beauty,
From Phnom Penh 'tis completely different,
Here floods, sewage, filth -- no comment.

May you not be buried under water,
And lost like Atlantis fore'er,
Nowhere the City can be found as though,
None of us as of now would know.
