Seeing this reminds me of such a scene,
I myself witnessed a procession as seen,
Where five hundred men were so walked,
To one of them, my acquaintance, I talked.
Mr. Lon, one of Lon Nol's officers,
Approached me and left a message,
They were then said sent there as workers,
In fact, they were all victims to carnage.
The killing took place near "White Lotus Dam"
North of Svay Prey, off National High Way 2,
Being walked there, none could be on the lam
Executed, being "Soldiers, all of you!"
His narration's still haunted me these days,
Part of "the Killing Fields" -- tragic life plays,
To his wife still alive, a message up to sum:
"All of us won't be spared, tell aGo's mum."
What that can be said as stark different,
I recall of all the scene and event,
On rural fields, those victims were tortured,
Not so ostentatiously in town as these captured.
Some young Khmer Rouge armed militia-boys,
Did walk the five hundred men as their toys,
No resistance was conceived and no yelp.
They did all seem to lay hope in God's help.
Maybe because they thought Khmer wouldn't kill Khmer,
As we're now perplexed to see Khmer torture Khmer,
In broad-daylight in front of the world's eyes.
When Khmer blood's been spilled as we're in surprise.
The scene does tell the world, "Less than human,"
"Khmer people are treated" by their leaders.
They've claimed democracy: world's wish in common.
But've been bludgeoned by armed uniformed killers.
